Enterprise Transportation
Company is focused
on providing the
highest quality tank
truck service
available. We have
remained dedicated
to the philosophy
that almost all of
our revenue is
generated by a small
group of shippers
with whom we have
formed partnerships.
While Enterprise
will continue to
pursue new
customers, we will
do so selectively,
and while insuring
our existing
customer base does
not suffer any ill
effects.
Enterprise Transportation Company (founded as Cango) has
been in the tank truck business for over 40 years. We
began operation servicing Union Carbide Corporation’s
in-plant business in 1965. In 1967 Texas Intrastate
Authority was obtained and we began to handle over the
road business within the state. Through interline
agreements established in 1968, we began to carry
interstate shipments nationwide.
In June of 1973, Cango was purchased by Enterprise
Products Company, a marketing and distribution force in
the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) business. At the time
of the sale, Cango operated one terminal in Texas City,
TX. Enterprise Products had a private carriage fleet
handling the transport of LPG and Cango complimented
their existing operation.
Enterprise made major investments in chemical equipment
in 1974 and in 1975 began to aggressively pursue liquid
bulk business from third party shippers. Through the
years our third party contract business has continued to
grow. Today, Enterprise Transportation Company
represents over 50 major shippers and delivers product
to thousands of locations throughout the contiguous 48
states, Mexico and Canada.
Enterprise
Transportation Company now stands poised as one of the
ten largest tank truck companies in the United States.
We
attribute much of our present to efforts we began
undertaking in 1993. Up until 1993 Enterprise had been
focused on servicing our customers strictly out of the
US Gulf. Due to pressure from our shippers to increase
our geographic coverage and reduce cost, we began to
pursue growth in other regions of the country. Through
internal growth and acquisition we have accomplished our
goal of becoming a truly national carrier. Enterprise
now operates 26 terminals in 15 states. We have reduced
operating inefficiencies and increased our percentage of
loaded miles. In doing so, we have insured our ability to
remain highly competitive while being able to offer
consistently superior service to our customers.
